Wirless Charging

I recently read about a new technology that is being developed called wireless power. It is a really neat idea that could have a big impact on the way we use electricity. The idea behind it is that a metal wire would be coiled tightly which would give off energy at a certain frequency. Then anything that is put within 2 meters that has the same frequency would be charged. It is meant to charge smaller devices like cell phones, laptops, and PDAs. I don't know about you, but I hate all the cords that I need to keep my essential electronics charged. This new technology would not effect any other electronics that does not have the same frequency and is safe for people to be around. The concept is the same as when you have wine glasses filled with different levels of liquid. Then if you sing at the same pitch as one of the glasses, it resonates with the glass that has the same pitch and none of the others. Now all I will have to do at night when I go to bed will be simply place my phone next to my bed instead of trying to search for my charger. Maybe someday the technology will be perfected to have the efficiency to run everything in this way. There would no longer be the mess of wires behind the entertainment center and you wouldn't have to worry about children sticking their finger in the electrical outlets. There wouldn't be any!
